Particle Systems: Falling Leaves

I've been looking at the default UDK leaf particle system to make my own for the racing game. I had previously attempted to make particles for falling leaves, but I am still not entirely satisfied with it-- so I went ahead and looked for more reference.

Cherry blossoms blizzard - they fall way faster at 3:35 - 4 minutes in

Ideally, I'd like to make something everyone can use, so I looked at these for general reference as well:

While there is no specific tutorial on falling leaves, I believe that Eat3d's Creating Dust Particles tutorial should help me out in making more believable particles.

Particle Systems: Explosion

We've been dabbling into particle systems with unreal cascade. Following Eat3D's tutorials for explosions, I tinkered with the settings and made this:

I'll be using it in my racing level for when the cursed monsters get destroyed.

WIP

I don't even know what to name these anymore but at least the face is slightly....better.

His nose and mouth are too small though....

Character WIP

Working on this guy's face still
I think the lips are too small but at least they resemble....lips a bit more.
Should probably smooth him out a bit more but wow! Lips are difficult

"Crate"

Next up, "crates". For mine, I decided to use a japanese Toro, like these:

Texturing still in the works

As for pickups upon crashing against these things, you get a bunch of little Magatamas!

Race track-- in the works

I've realized I haven't really posted much about my level-- but here it is. Still a work in progress.

These are some shots after getting in the correct skybox and fiddling with the exponential fog for a more "haunted" and cursed area effect.

Barrels

We're working on making exploding barrels for programming class. These should ideally match with our race track.

The one on the right is a regular Japanese Hinoki barrel. These are often used to store water or sake in them.

The one on the left is the exploding barrel. The kanji on it says "Danger" and features a traditional styled Oni on the front along with the words "Oni no Nami Da" which translates to "Demon's Tears"
