- Fantasy
- Strategy
- Mythology
- Could be mixed or specific
- Choose your own adventure?
Interesting games:
- Tetra Master
- Triple Triad
- Coin Breaker
- Quelf
- Dungeon Dice Monsters
- Dungeons and Dragons
- Maze
- Labyrinthus
- RoboDerby
- Landshift
- Risk
Things I want for my game:
- Modular board / Paths
- I really like the idea of being able to somehow modify the playing field.
- Dice!
- If anything, certainly having different types of dice
- RoboDerby/Rally has dice that issue different commands
- Move right 3 spaces
- Move back 2 spaces
- U-Turn
- Hack
- Dungeon Dice Monsters actually has players create paths with unfolding dice...That's just a really attractive concept for me (but would of course, mean more unfolding dice pieces. Must look more into the feasibility of that)
commands |
- Combat
- Some of the games I played had a fun combat element-- however, this was pushed back in favor of making paths.
- Force players to battle instead of running all over the board
- Cards?
- Not too many different cards
- Perhaps just instructional cards
- Could be tiles instead of cards...used for combat?
- Tetra Master style combat using arrows and stats
Current goals:
- Have some kind of modular board-- possibly modified via tiles
- must not make pieces too small and difficult to cut out
- Force players to battle
- Goal could be to make a path to reach another player while picking up useful modifiers along the way
- Story
- Commanding different forces?
- Summoners?
- Essentially roleplaying as mythical commanders?
- i.e. Zeus vs. Odin
- Summoning respective mythical figures to conquer the other
- Trickster god battle?
- Loki vs. Kuthk vs. Susanoo vs. Hermes/Mercury
- each could command a different entity...making it a possible 8 different designs (4 gods, 4 entities with color swaps?)
MUST HAVE:
- Limited Gametime
- About 30 minutes
- At least 2 to 4 player game
- Sometimes, playing with more than just another person can turn a simple game into a crazy shouting match
